Would My Child Benefit?
Nearly every student can benefit for executive function coaching. Executive function refers to a set of skills that lay the foundation for effective learning and enable us to become independent learners. If you find yourself constantly reminding or prompting your child to meet expectations and fulfill responsibilities or if your child needs constant supervision to get effectively complete tasks then executive function could greatly benefit your child.
What Will You Do?
Coaching sessions will support students in prioritizing their assignments based on the importance and due date, break down larger assignments into smaller more manageable tasks, how to effectively prepare for tests, how to manage their time and keep track of due dates, how to self-advocate when they are in need of help, how to monitor and assess their level of understanding, and to develop and maintain an organization system that works for them.
How Does It Work?
Executive function coaching sessions can be held online through zoom, in home, in school, or at the BEF Education office.
On average, students meet twice a week for 1.5 hours, however, the frequency of coaching sessions varies and is based on the unique needs of the individual.
How do we get started?
The first step is to schedule a free phone consultation where we will discuss the individual challenges your student is experiencing. Any relevant documentation such as IEP/504 plans, neuropsych evaluations, or grade reports will also be utilized to better understand where the student needs the most support.
From there a program will be developed to structure student coaching sessions in an efficient and effective manner that address individual challenges, monitor student progress, and prepare students to develop sustainable skills to become independent, self-directed learners.
