Executive Function Skills For Success

Executive function, at its core, allows us to execute- or in simple terms: get things done. It is an umbrella term that refers to a set of skills and processes that allow us to execute through completion. In order to do this, students need to develop and apply a range of skills like planning, organizing, prioritizing, and initiating. This course is designed to support students in building executive function skills in a sustainable way by teaching these skills through interactive lessons, activities, and exercises which allow students to take an active role in the learning process. Students will build and improve their executive function skills through awareness, understanding, exploration, and application allowing them to be better equipped to make changes that stick.

Option 1: Independent Learning
Students can log into each lesson independently, working through the lesson presentation, questions, and activities at their own pace. This is a good fit for teachers who work with a small group of students and have available class time for students to work independently or have specific students who need support in building executive functioning skills and have independent time to work on the lessons.

Option 2: Small Group Learning
Teachers can lead the lessons in a group setting, displaying the lesson presentation on a projector screen, working on the activities, questions, and exercises as a group. If students have access to an individual device/laptop, teachers can have each student log into the lesson independently, and guide them through the presentation as a group and working on the activities together as a class or independently.

Option 3: Homeschool/Independent Setting
This course does not require teacher instruction and can be utilized for an independent learner who is receiving a home education or a student who needs outside support in improving their executive functioning skills.
