Comprehensive Program

Comprehensive programming is provided to students in need of intensive and comprehensive support that is on-going. Because executive function challenges are so complex and present differently in each student, a pragmatic, multifaceted program is customized to meet the unique needs of the individual. Using a general framework that involves several layers of support, students will learn how to change patterns and and build effective habits allowing them to become confident, self-directed individuals who are prepared to lead fulfilling and successful lives.

Each comprehensive program invoices individualized coaching combined with various layers of support including: executive function assessments and evaluations, group coaching, parent strategy sessions, accountability check ins, school communication, attendance of IEP/504 Meetings, customizable resources, progress monitoring, academic skills courses, and school advocacy.

Supports and Services Offered

EF Assessment

Executive function challenges present differently in each child and because the challenges are often so complex I try to take a comprehensive look at what is going on in order to identify real solutions that will produce sustainable results. In order to achieve this, parents begin by completing Executive Functioning Assessment which provides key insight into your student’s individual needs. Along with the assessment, parents can submit neuropsych evaluations, grade reports, and teacher feedback forms.

Once the assessment is submitted, an evaluation report will be provided outlining goals to work towards and a customized program plan for meeting them. Weekly progress monitoring will be conducted to ensure students are developing the skills that will enable them to become confident, self-directed individuals who take an active role in the learning process.

Coaching Sessions

Individualized coaching sessions will take place on a weekly basis and generally run for 1.5 hours. Sessions are held in office, in home, in school, or online through zoom. Coaching sessions will target the individual needs of the student which involves thorough review of upcoming assignments, maintaining organizational methods and systems, reviewing online academic portals and grades, checking student email, and homework completion.

Students often experience shame around receiving outside support because they feel they are the only one who struggles. Group coaching sessions provide students with an opportunity to connect with others they can relate to. When students start to realize they are not alone in this it can be very transformational. Sessions are held weekly at the BEF Education office which offers students a vibrant space to work. Snacks and beverages will be provided as well as access to printers. During break time students can play pool, use the video arcade room, and play shuffleboard or board games.

A personalized account will be created for both parents and students which will provide access to the session calendar and session notes. Session notes are provided for each individualized session and are submitted within 24 hours of the session end time.Session notes include a breakdown of what was accomplished during the session, an action plan of items the student is to work on in between sessions, learning and application methods that were targeted, and any additional relative information.

Weekly Accountability

Accountability generates responsibility by teaching students to take ownership of their behaviors. Providing students with an opportunity to take charge in their learning by holding them accountable in following through on their own plan to improve. Through this process students will acquire the necessary skills that will enable them to lead successful lives.

In order to achieve this, students will play a role in developing an accountability form which will provide a framework for them to formulate a plan to follow through on. Each week students will schedule a time to check in via zoom, email, or text where will review the accountability form and monitor progress.

Parent Strategy Sessions

Students often present a unique set of challenges that can be overwhelming for parents to navigate alone. Parent strategy sessions offer support in guiding your child to independence, allowing them to lead successful and fulfilling lives. avoids blaming and judgement and instead provides support and guidance that leads to empowerment.

Together we will strategize on how you can create conditions for your child to succeed and how to feel better prepared to implement effective behavioral and academic interventions.

School Advocacy and Communication

Self advocacy is an important skill to master and more often than not, students who struggle with executive function have major resistance exercising this skill. As a result, parents often assume the responsibility and intervene on behalf of the student in order to help their student move forward. Whether you need to get clarity on an assignment, need to reinforce the IEP accommodations, or have a general question regarding classroom expectations, I will support you in this process by providing template emails and/or talking points to help you communicate your needs effectively.

Self advocacy also involves meetings with the school. I will be there to support you both along the way by attending IEP/504 Meetings, teacher meetings, or conferences. Together we will strategize on appropriate goals, recommendations for instruction, modifications, and accommodations, preparation for IEP/504 meetings to ensure a collaborative solution focused interaction with school personnel, and guidance and follow up correspondence to ensure accountability is taking place.
